What is Small Fiber Neuropathy? Small Fiber Neuropathy is the damage of the small fiber nerves in your peripheral nervous system. The small fiber nerves detect pain, temperature changes, and itching sensations and when the nerves are damaged, these sensations are elevated. The most common symptom is pain. Neuropathy pain can be burning, tingling, numbing, pins and needles, sharp. Some patients also report constant, whole body pain and brief, electric shock shooting pains. In more severe cases, it can also affect the autonomic nervous system and the gastrointestinal tract.

Why is this collar is so important to me? Hello! My name is Kate, and I am the owner of WagALot Pet Shop. About a year and a half ago, my physical health started to decline very quickly after a viral infection. It first started out with full-body pain, and then I started to have issues with my GI tract. A few months later, my heart rate began to get super high doing everyday activities, dizziness upon standing, and so much more related to the autonomic nervous system. We didn't know what was going on. However, in September of 2020, I was diagnosed with small fiber neuropathy. We found out that my nerves are severely damaged. At first, the diagnosis didn't mean much to me, as I didn't understand it. However, as my neuropathy progressed, I started to learn more about SFN. Fast forward a few months and we find out that the cause of my GI issues and autonomic dysfunction was in fact, small fiber neuropathy. My doctors decided to run tests to learn more about what was going on and if there is a set cause for my neuropathy and to help the doctors determine what treatment might benefit me the most. However, due to a lack of research and understanding of SFN in the medical field, I am unable to receive this set treatment. This treatment is supposed to help me get back on track to feeling better again!
